Titanium is not bought the way gold and silver are. It has no spot market, no monetary history and no central bank holdings. What it has is a set of properties no precious metal can match, and a manufacturing difficulty that makes a bar this size a genuine object of interest rather than a commodity purchase.

WEIGHT TOLERANCE

Cast bars are poured into moulds rather than machined to a fixed size, so the finished weight varies slightly from bar to bar. Every bar we supply falls within 2% of one kilogram, which is 980 to 1,020 grams. This is normal for cast bullion and has no bearing on purity, which remains .999 fine throughout.

THE SIZE WILL SURPRISE YOU

Titanium is light. At 4.51 grams per cubic centimetre it is roughly a quarter the density of gold and less than half that of silver. A kilogram of titanium therefore occupies about 222 cubic centimetres, which is more than twice the volume of a kilogram silver bar and around eleven times the volume of a kilogram of gold.

The result is a bar that looks considerably larger than its weight suggests, and feels startlingly light when you pick it up. That contrast is most of the appeal.

WHY TITANIUM IS HARD TO MAKE

Titanium melts at 1,668 degrees Celsius. More awkwardly, molten titanium reacts aggressively with oxygen and nitrogen, so it cannot simply be poured in open air the way silver or copper can. It has to be melted under vacuum or inert gas, usually by vacuum arc remelting, and that equipment is expensive.

This is why titanium costs far more to turn into a bar than its raw material value implies. You are paying for the process, not the metal.
